Meet Matthew Fromboluti, one of our Project Managers here at Gnome. Matthew is one of the newest members of our team, but he brings with him 12 years of experience in architecture. Having worked in both Michigan and Philadelphia on multi-family and residential projects, Matthew has a wealth of expertise to draw from. He enjoys collaborating with the team on design challenges and is inspired by mid-century homes in Cape Cod and architects like Alvar Aalto. Outside of the office, Matthew is kept busy with his two daughters but enjoys hiking the Wissahickon and reading when he has some spare time.
The foundation is going in at 501 Station Ave., marking an exciting step forward in the redevelopment of Haddon Heights’ main commercial corridor. This mixed-use building will feature two ground-floor commercial spaces and 12 apartments, designed in close collaboration with the local residents, government, and the historic commission. We can’t wait to see how this project shapes the community, so stay tuned.
Construction is progressing on both beach houses in South Bethany Beach, DE. Designing two side-by-side beach houses was a unique challenge, as we wanted each house to have its own personality, but have elements that tied them together. We chose materiality as that thread. Cedar shake, T&G wood siding, and terrazzo tile are the main cladding materials that are present in both homes. This creates a dialogue between the structures and allows us to use the materials in different and creative ways. Over the next few weeks, we will be diving into each house individually, showing you more of the details and how the interior spaces are shaping up.
With Phase 3 now framed up, our team went out to the progress at Wendle Place. With 34 townhomes planned, this is a massive project, making regular check-ins even more important. Site visits play a key role in our process because they allow us to troubleshoot any issues in the field and make any needed adjustments, ensuring the design stays on course and the project stays on time.
After months of planning and collaboration, we’re excited to share our design for 1224 Frankford Ave. — a new boutique hotel coming soon to Fishtown. Located right next to Frankford Hall, this currently vacant lot will soon be replaced by a five-story, 59-room hotel, bringing a contemporary hospitality experience to one of the cities most unique neighborhoods. We’re excited to continue to contribute to Fishtown’s architectural development with a design that fits seamlessly into this one-of-a-kind streetscape. 17 W. Girard was recently featured in an article from AIA, showcasing the value of thoughtful design and the impact architecture can have on a neighborhood. We are proud to design spaces that contribute to the unique landscape of Philadelphia and can’t wait to share the upcoming projects we have in store for Fishtown.
