Recently approved by the Philadelphia Historic Commission, this renovation and addition will transform a former residence that had been damaged in a fire. The owner's were looking for a contemporary addition that complimented the brutalist style of the existing structure. Elevating the living level to the second floor allows for a direct connection of the spaces to roof terraces, which also look down into the courtyard entrance of the home.

A rare double wide parcel in Historic Fishtown provided a unique opportunity for volumetric play within this custom residence. Double height volumes connect the public spaces of the home which anchor smaller private rooms, and share borrowed light. Interiors by @lowercase.design

Let in the light! Natural lighting is a key element to our design process, and how it can be used to create a dramatic interior. Here it highlights our contemporary design and the double height interior spaces of our Abigail Street project in Fishtown.
