We are making a contemporary addition to 20th and South. Our design for this five-unit apartment building with ground-floor commercial space draws from traditional architecture while embracing a modern approach. Red brick detailing and a rhythmic window arrangement reflect the neighborhood’s historic architecture, while clean lines and expansive glazing give it a refined, contemporary edge. This project is breaking ground soon, so stay tuned for updates as things take shape.
A well-designed window is more than an architectural feature—it’s a way to shape perspective. Windows dictate how we engage with a space, framing views, casting patterns of daylight, and opening interiors to the outdoors. Whether it’s a historic arched window that speaks to craftsmanship or a sleek, floor-to-ceiling expanse that dissolves the boundary between inside and out, windows have the ability to transform the way we experience a space.

950 Marlborough Street is one step closer to reality. This multifamily project just received support from the Fishtown Neighborhood Association and is heading to the Zoning Board for final approval. As part of @pcginvestmentNorth Delaware Avenue development efforts, these two buildings will bring 86 new units to the area. Designed to create a cohesive streetscape, both buildings will feature a unified material palette, exterior details, and a shared public plaza at Marlborough & E. Allen St. anchoring the intersection for a campus-like feel. Stay tuned to watch this project take shape.
Meet Jacky - one of our incredible Architectural Designers. Jacky joined Gnome six months ago after earning his Master’s in Architecture. Passionate about the blend of art and science, he focuses on designing spaces that inspire emotion and influence human behavior. Among his projects, 222 Hermitage Street stands out as a favorite, where he worked on the facade design, zoning drawings, and CD set. Beyond the office, Jacky enjoys Philly sports and grabbing a beer with friends. Originally from Malawi, he brings a global perspective to our team. His advice for aspiring architects? “Always keep an open attitude toward learning”.
A doorway is more than just a point of entry—it’s a moment of transition that bridges the outside world to the space within. They offer structure and functionality while serving as the first impression, introducing the architectural narrative of a home. A well-designed entryway creates flow, blending form and function in a way that feels effortless. From elegant arches steeped in history to bold, modern frames with clean lines, doorways are an opportunity for expression. They can establish a connection to the past or embrace contemporary minimalism, shaping the character of a building with each detail. Doorways remind us that even small design choices have the power to transform how we experience space.

Here’s a first look at the plans for our latest project. Set on a historic property outside New Hope, PA, our design honors the character of the original farmhouse and barn while introducing a modern single-family residence. The new home is tucked behind the existing farmhouse and connected via a glassy solarium. The historic structures will take on new life as a poolhouse, guest suites, and office spaces, designed as a series of interconnected nodes. Each space frames views of the surrounding landscape, and gabled roofs, dormers, and porches pay homage to the property’s historic roots, creating a seamless blend of tradition and contemporary living.
