Kinfolk House

Set along one of South Bethany Beach’s quiet canals, this home is shaped by the movement of water and the calm rhythm of the coastal landscape. The design is organized as two interlocking volumes that respond to the meeting of land and sea. The primary gabled form rests on a louvered base, introducing a soft, wave-like curvature at the ground plane. A secondary volume extends over a stone plinth, anchoring the house to its site and creating a sheltered outdoor terrace below.

Inside, the layout is open and light filled, with generous windows oriented to capture long views down the canal. Warm wood tones, vertical slat screens, and contemporary detailing create a relaxed interior environment that supports the easy flow of daily life. Spaces are connected through subtle level changes and a central stair that brings natural light deep into the home.

Durable materials, coastal references, and a modern expression come together to form a house that feels both grounded and effortless. A place shaped by the landscape and designed for family gatherings, quiet mornings, and the rhythm of life by the water.
